Who you are:
As the face of Secret Solvang, you bring joy, curiosity, and a playful spark to each tour. You’re part host, part performer, part local ambassador.
You can hold a crowd’s attention, think on your feet, and offer memorable experiences that blend laughter, learning, and charm.
Most of all, you care about your guests, Solvang, and bring customer care that can turn a tour into a favorite vacation memory.
We’re looking for people with strong people skills, comfort with public speaking, and a love of storytelling, food, wine, and quirky local history. A background in performance (improv, theater, music, etc.) or hospitality is a big plus, but not required if you’re a natural host who can engage a group.
Guiding with Secret Solvang is typically part-time and schedule-based, with more tours during weekends, holidays, and peak tourism seasons. It can be a great fit alongside other creative, hospitality, or freelance work.
New guides shadow tours, learn our script and route, and receive coaching on storytelling, guest care, and timing. You’ll have opportunities to rehearse and get feedback until you feel confident leading your own tours.
Tours pay $90 to lead, and tips end up being a significant extra part of your income:
Expect $20-$80+ per tour in tips, if you do an amazing job.
